The genus Sula contains some of the most charismatic and bold seabirds to grace the World's oceans. Named after the Spanish slang word for foolish or naive, these aerial hunters dive from moderate heights to catch prey such as squid or flying fish. The family Sulidae contains both gannets and Abbott's booby, a basal lineage in its own genus, Papasula.
