This member of the asparagus family is a tough flowering succulent shrub that can reach a height of 5 meters. The sotol grows in arid regions of the North American Southwest, preferring warm habitats. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve cut up my legs when walking past the spiny, fibrous leaves of this hardy plant.
