It is no secret that one of my favorite places in Texas is the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and Goose Island State Park area. After spending the summer months in Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada, the impressive Whooping Crane migrates over 2,500 miles to land along the Texas Gulf Coast. The story of the Whooping Crane is one of resilience and hope. It was nothing short of a miracle when populations as low as 20 came back from the brink of extinction. Countless passionate and empathetic humans are to thank for looking out for the tallest bird in North America. To them, we are all very grateful.
