Mountain Lion (2025)

Colored Pencil and Acrylic on Paper, 9” x 12” (22.86 x 30.48 cm)

Species featured: Mountain Lion (Puma concolor)

The elusive, apex predator of the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. I have yet to see a Mountain Lion during my trips to the Big Bend, although I have hopes that someday I will get so lucky. Misunderstood and often thought of as a vagrant cattle hunter, this could not be farther from the truth. Mountain Lions, or Cougars, are caring parents, cunning Mule Deer hunters, and intelligent masters of the rocky terrain of the American West
